VMware Workstation: Connect YubiKey

To connect a YubiKey to a VMware Workstation virtual machine:

Shutdown the virtual machine.
Edit the virtual machine .vmx file to include the following line: usb.generic.allowHID = "TRUE"
Start the virtual machine and connect the YubiKey.
