VMware ESXi 4.1: Find Hardware Serial Number

To find the hardware serial number

• Enable Tech Support Mode within the vSphere Client
• SSH to the ESXi host
• Login as root and run the following command:

esxcfg-info | grep "Serial Number"

For example:

host> esxcfg-info | grep "Serial Number"
